Hi, I just got this unit for two days and owned a 750 previously. Most of it is good. Here are details:

Pro (comapred to 750):
1) good upcoming arrow.
2) definitely good satalite catch-up speed(it is so fast that I began to doubt the catch is virtual rather than real. Anyway, it is good)
3) Good price for a lifetime traffic and ads are not obvious indeed. (while a problem remains as discussed below)
4) good bluetooth function with my N95 since I hate to use a BT headset.

Con
1) Biggest complaint is that the volume automatically drops when paired with my N95. The only solution is to click the sound icon on main menu and then click "OK". No need to adjust the sound level, which is actually not changed during the drop.
2) Notorious low volume. Distortion on 90%-100% makes it useless at such level. However, if you do care this issue, you probably will not buy either 2X5 serials or 7X5 serials, since I found in person that both models have such problem and it is well discussed on the internet with no solution.
3) Another issue with BT is that when paired with my Nokia N95, there is no "phone book". But OK, I can live with that since I know there are some compatiblity issue. But "1" is not a compatiblity. It is a malfunction.
4) The bottom button on the navigation page is smaller than 750, which is hard to read.

Generally, I like this device and since I have returned a 765t in[...] and two refurb 255Ws at Amazon (you may think I am picky, which I don't agree), I will stick to this even if the problem is not solved. I recommend this device and "Hi, if you have extra money, save it for future better model! Why rush to spend it?"

Apparently like many other companies, Garmin is too cheap to include a printed manual. You must download and print this on your own dime. Product registration is unnecessarily complex as GPS must be connected to your computer when you do this. Routing protocol is impossible to fathom. When a freeway/interstate is present, the darn thing tries to route you on city streets. Why? This is the fifth Garmin product I have purchased and I believe they are going backwards. The programming needs to be much less complex and easier to understand. When programming to a destination, many of the "why is it doing that" items are not explained at all in the manual. Only through experience will you eventually come to understand why and how the darn thing works. I am not impressed.

I had an inexpensive TomTom. This wide screen GPS is better in almost every way. I haven't tried the FM traffic.

I ordered a refurbished Garmin nuvi 265wt GPS unit because is was such a good price and the reviews said it was as good as a new one at a significant savings. It arrived quickly, in a blue box from Garmin that said 265wt on it. Upon opening it however, the unit itself said 255w (not 265wt), so it did not have the bluetooth feature that the 265wt has, which is why I chose the 265wt model. I called Amazon and they were very gracious and apologetic about it and the return was easy. I therefore chaulked it up to a packaging error, it happens right? My replacement unit from Amazon came just as fast, in a blue box from Gramin with a model number 265wt on it, just like the first one. But inside, it was a different story. Again, I was sent a Garmin nuvi 255w in a box that clearly, and for the second time, said Garmin 265wt. I called Amazon again, very disapointed and decided not to go for a third try. A refund was quickly processed but I am still disapointed and I have no GPS. What is Garmin trying to pull here? So, a word of caution, make sure you get what you ordered!

Well the unit seems okay, but forget about updating the maps or registering at [..]. You will have to download a plugin called the Garmin Communicator. This plugin crashes both the latest Mozilla and IE browsers. I rebooted, uninstalled, etc. multiple times. But when you get to the Garmin test page and the plugin is active your browser will crash every time. Deleted the plugin and am shipping the GPS back tomorrow. All I got from Garmin support was a 35 minute hold. Very disappointed as I had read many favorable reviews about this unit.
